In the Netherlands, you will only feel really at home if you can speak Dutch. It makes it easier for you to make friends with other people or to study at college or university, and looking for a job is much easier if you have a good command of Dutch. For those who want to learn Dutch or would like to improve their Dutch, the NT2 Dutch as a Second Language course is an excellent choice! In the course, topical themes from daily life are discussed. Subjects such as doing the shopping, going to the doctor, booking a holiday, and looking for a job are all dealt with during the course. The course ends with a state examination at the relevant level. The course material includes intensive exam training with the help of sample exams. The perfect preparation for the real exam!

Please note: this course is offered in a choice of three variants. NT2 level 1 is at the absolute beginner's level and ends with the NT2 level 1 exam. For those who want to obtain a higher qualification, the NT2 level 2 is the right choice. For those who already have a good command of Dutch and who only want to take the NT2 level 2 exam, there is the NT2 level 2 shortened course for advanced students.

Your qualification

The course concludes with a state exam, which will give you the recognised NT2 level 1 or 2 state exam diploma. Once you have this diploma, following a further education course in the Netherlands, or getting a job, will become a whole lot easier!

Your Home Learning Pack

The lessons are presented in loose-sheet course material. All the subjects covered in the lessons are included in the course material. This means you will not have to buy any textbooks. You will also receive handy folders to neatly store the course material.

The course also includes extensive course guides: two for NT2 level 1, three for NT2 level 2, and one for NT2 level 2 shortened course for advanced students.

You will also receive a handy vocabulary and grammar book, which is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Indonesian. The course material also includes sample CITO exams. Furthermore, you can perfect your pronunciation with the free CD-ROMs and/or CDs!

Course contents

This course offers a choice of three variants. NT2 level 1, NT2 level 2, and NT2 level 2 shortened course for advanced students. Each lesson covers a relevant theme from daily life, such as doing the shopping, going to the doctor, booking a holiday, and looking for a job. The lessons include practical assignments and pronunciation exercises. There are regular tests for pronunciation. The course is concluded with a sample CITO exam. The areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking are dealt with separately. The lecturer will grade your writing and speaking skills.

The exam

The NT2 state exam is organised by the Informatie Beheer Groep and consists of four parts: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.

Admission requirements

You do not need any previous qualifications to follow the Dutch as a Second Language course. If you are just starting to learn Dutch, then we recommend you start with NT2 level 1.

Van inschrijving tot diploma

Voordat je besluit een opleiding te volgen, wil je natuurlijk eerst weten wat je kunt verwachten. Daarom hebben we voor je op een rijtje gezet hoe studeren bij de LOI werkt, van inschrijven tot het behalen van je diploma. Zo kom je niet voor verrassingen te staan.

Wanneer kan ik starten?

Bij inschrijving kun je zelf aangeven wanneer je wilt starten. Het eerste lespakket ontvang je enkele dagen vóór de door jou aangegeven startdatum thuis. Met dit lespakket heb je alles in huis om nog diezelfde dag te starten met je opleiding.

Hoe volg ik de opleiding?

Bij de LOI volg je je opleiding op een flexibele manier. Dit betekent dat je leert waar en wanneer het jóu uitkomt, maar dan wel met alle ondersteuning die je volgens ons bij deze unieke onderwijsvorm nodig hebt. Je opleiding is hier dan ook volledig op ingericht.

Waaruit bestaat mijn opleiding?

Een compleet lespakket met schriftelijk lesmateriaal

Je maakt gebruik van het complete lespakket dat je ontvangt. Dit bestaat uit schriftelijk lesmateriaal en vaak ook alle benodigde extra studiematerialen, zoals cd’s of dvd’s met software. Zijn er daarnaast nog andere leermiddelen nodig voor je opleiding, dan lees je dat in de opleidingsinformatie.

Hoe zijn de examens geregeld?

Bij de LOI word je veelal opgeleid voor diploma’s van erkende exameninstanties als NIMA, NEMAS en EXIN. De examens worden dan ook afgenomen bij de exameninstanties die deze diploma’s afgeven. Daarnaast neemt de LOI zelf ook examens af in Leiderdorp. Tijdens je opleiding vind je alle informatie over de examens op LOI Campus.

Wat voor diploma krijg ik?

Alle LOI-opleidingen zijn erkend door het ministerie van OCW en voldoen dus aan dezelfde strenge kwaliteitseisen als reguliere deeltijd- en voltijdopleidingen. Daarnaast hebben ook alle bacheloropleidingen van LOI Hogeschool het hoogst haalbare kwaliteitsstempel van de overheid, de NVAO-accreditatie. Je haalt dus altijd een erkend branchediploma.
